Jennifer Wood - Branch Director

I started my journey at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Chaffee County back in 2006 and have seen it grow and expand every year. Our Club encourages youth to become productive, positive members of the community. I love the program because it allows us to help and inspire kids from a variety of backgrounds. In the near future I hope to expand our Junior Staff program to get more 6th-12th graders into the program.

Sabrina Carter- Youth Development Professional

Sabrina Carter has been working as a youth educator for over 10 years. Her first formal work began in early childhood development at SUNY Purchase School of Art & Design's daycare facility. After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in the Fine Arts, she became a Youth Counselor and Art Program Coordinator for Peconic Dunes, an environmental summer camp. She continued working as an educator overseas in South Korea as a kindergarten and grade school English teacher and has found her way to Buena Vista's Boys and Girl's Club where she greatly enjoys her position as Senior Program Director. Her passion for teaching comes from her mother's long career as a Statistics Professor and the educational values that have been inspired by her mother all throughout life. She hopes to inspire that same passion for education and self worth in the youth she encounters at the Boy's and Girl's Clubs of Chaffee County.

Sue Lathrop – Front Desk

The Boys and Girls Clubs expose kids to opportunities they may otherwise never experience. I’m glad to be with the Club because it has set up a safe place for kids to be themselves. It’s as much fun as living on a boat for 12 years with a husband, three kids, one dog, two cats and a fish, which means I love it here!

Kiki Lathrop – Specialist

Working at the BGC appeals to me because I like working for non-profits and wanted to be in the education field; at the Club I get to teach kids in an informal environment. More than that, the Boys & Girls Clubs help build society by providing opportunities that would not otherwise be presented. I grew up on a sailboat from age 6 – 17 (mostly around the Bahamas and Florida – it was great!), have lived in the UK, Japan and Australia, and hold a masters degree in museum studies.
