YOUTH OF THE YEARCRITERIA FOR SELECTION
as Kid (elementary) or Youth (middle school) of the Month
Positive Attitude
Active engagement at The Club
Positive relationships with peers & staff
The Kid of the Year and Youth of the Year from each Club participate in a thorough application and selection process. All the monthly honorees and their parents were invited to an awards breakfast with about 200 people where community and family members come to honor them. Below are this year's honorees: From the Youth of the Year Breakfast:
“Youth of the Year”
John Office is a 13 year old with a fun outlook on life. He likes that he is active and willing to do fun and exciting sports. John most likes the gymnasium at Boys & Girls Club. One day, John hopes to make a trip to Austria. If he could be any animal, John would be a chipmunk, “because they are random!!!”
Buena Vista Kid of the Year
Eleven-year-old Kelton Bassingthwaite was chosen because he is a leader at The Club, both while helping Club staff and setting a good example for younger members. Kelton enjoys mountain biking, hiking, climbing, playing the card game Yu-Gi-Oh!, and eating pizza. His favorite movie is “Star Wars” and his favorite subjects are math and science. At The Club, Kelton likes Card Club and Dodgeball the most.
Salida Kid of the Year
Kendra Smith is a 9 year old that likes to help. She is a confident young lady who likes her personality. Kendra enjoys art and being creative. Alaska is a place that she would love to visit. If Kendra could be any animal, she would be a giraffe “because I could stretch my neck.”

Families of the Year
Again we are honoring two families who have been very involved in their children's lives and active with The Club. They are:
